Our work / Conroe garden

Bi-level garden, retaining wall & fencing · Conroe, Texas Room to grow.
On another level.

A failing fence. A steep change in elevation. A stretch of backyard with much more to offer. We reworked the ground, built the timber structure, and connected two levels with a custom staircase—giving this Conroe property a new way to enjoy the outdoors.

The ground shaped the brief

A fence problem.
A bigger opportunity.

The rear boundary needed more than a fresh row of pickets. The neighboring ground sat at a different level, and the existing fence showed the strain of an awkward transition. We looked at how the yard could work as a whole.

The plan brought excavation, grading, a 50-foot timber retaining wall, and a wooden staircase together. The wall defines the change in level; the steps give it a natural connection. An eight-foot cedar privacy fence frames the lower garden route.

Getting the excavator into the yard meant removing part of the existing fence. That access point became part of the finished scope: a new six-foot cedar fence and gate to complete the approach.

The completed work includes reinforcement and gravel along the retained edge as part of the drainage work. Those practical details sit behind the larger idea: turning a difficult part of the property into a space with a purpose.

A lot of possibility.

The completed construction

The structure is here.
The garden can grow.

Timber, cedar, gravel, and a clear connection between levels. The construction creates the setting for the homeowners' next chapter of planting.

And then,
let it bloom.

The homeowners imagine planter boxes bringing the upper level to life and wisteria softening the cedar with color. It is a lovely next chapter for a space that began with an entirely practical problem.

This new visualization is based on photographs of the completed construction and the homeowners' planting ideas. It illustrates a possible future appearance; the planting, boxes, and mature growth shown here have not been installed as part of the photographed work.

The real completed construction appears in the gallery above. The vision is what could grow around it.
